About Us

The Port Kembla Youth Project is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1981, that provides information and support to young people aged 12-24. Our programs focus on providing opportunities for skills development, engagement, mentorship and resilience building, recognising the social issues and cultural diversity of our local area.

PKYP is governed by a management committee that consists of people in our community from diverse professions and backgrounds.

Our History

Port Kembla Youth Project was founded in 1981 by community leaders as there was a desperate need to engage the youth in positive behaviours and there wasn’t a youth service in the area at the time. For over 40 years, PKYP has been developing and implementing early intervention and prevention programs that focus on engagement of vulnerable young people from various cultures, backgrounds, and abilities, providing a range of activities.
